Position Summary...
To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines, leading Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.
What You'll Do...
- Sales and Financial Management: As a member of the Store Management Team, drive profitable sales through achievement of sales and profit goals, budget management, and sales forecasts. Analyze and utilize sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
- Operational Planning and Store Standards: Create operational plans with the Management Team; prioritize, delegate, and provide clear direction to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and adherence to store standards within Company policies. Implement new store programs and evaluate their effectiveness. Cross-train as needed to work proficiently in all store areas.
- Asset Protection and Safety: Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls; maintain quality assurance standards; oversee safety and operational reviews to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Proactively address compliance issues, including total loss controls.
- Customer Service: Serve customers as an ambassador by greeting, seeking feedback, and resolving issues within Company guidelines to ensure a positive shopping experience. Model and enforce friendly and helpful customer service techniques.
- Community Engagement: Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in community events and developing relationships with key groups. Engage in company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead associates through regular meetings, communicate operational initiatives, and foster engagement. Recognize accomplishments and provide professional growth opportunities. Identify high-potential associates and support their development.
- Performance Management: Demonstrate Company values by providing timely, honest, and respectful feedback. Manage relationships with supporting functions like HR.
- Merchandise Handling and Compliance: Ensure all merchandise, including sensitive items like alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-ticket items, is handled according to standards. Maintain cash controls, managing large sums securely.
