The Brome Lake Boating Club (BLBC) was founded in 1901, making the BLBC the second‑oldest sporting Club in the Eastern Townships. The original 1901 mandate stipulated “an association or club was to be formed with a view to recreation, instruction, and amusement, such as rowing, paddling, sailing, and racing of small craft, and for the mutual recreation, instruction and amusement of the members of the association under the name of the Brome Lake Boating Club”.
Reporting to the BLBC Club Manager with secondary oversight by the Executive Director and collaborating with the Board of Directors, the Camp Manager will have the responsibility of managing staff, camp programs and camp activities while ensuring the respect of budget guidelines. The Heads of Sailing, Waterfront, & CIT Program will report to the Camp Manager. The Camp Manager will work in close collaboration with the Assistant Manager to ensure effective communication with members and camp parents and an optimal operational environment.
The Camp Manager will also ensure that the workplace is positive, efficient, and secure for employees and offer an enjoyable experience to the members and guests during the summer season. The Camp Manager will be the front line of communications with members, potential members, and visitors for all Camp related requirements during the core operating season.
This position requires full‑time availability from mid‑June to the last week of August, including potential weekend or evening work for key events. The Camp Manager (in coordination with the Club Manager and Assistant Manager) will be expected to work some weekends at the Club, and/or find qualified staff to be on site, from Victoria Day weekend to mid‑June and from the end of August to mid‑October.
The Camp Manager role is seasonally full time but has the possibility for part‑time work in the off‑season. The current Executive Director works part‑time in the off‑season (remote) and close to full‑time during the high season, but with only part‑time onsite presence. For the right candidate, the Camp Manager role may be a stepping stone to either the Club Manager role or a near‑future full‑year Executive Director role, with a flexible off‑season time commitment. Priority in hiring will be given to a candidate who demonstrates a longer‑term commitment to the development of this role and the next steps for the future of the Club.
