Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate snowplow trucks to clear snow and ice from routes.
  • Respond to call-ins with notice.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment.
  • Set up signage, traffic control, and emergency response for weather events.
  • Maintain facilities and complete logs, reports, and safety records.
  • Transport hazardous materials and manage traffic in high‑volume zones.
  • Inspect and service company equipment and vehicles.
  • Follow labour laws, safety rules, and QA/QC standards.
  • Work outdoors in varied weather and operate additional heavy equipment as needed.

We’re looking for reliable Call-In Worker/Operators to join our Strathmoreteam for the winter season. This is an on‑call position perfect for someone looking for a great second job, extra income, or hands‑on experience in highway maintenance.

How You’ll Add Value

  • S afely operate snowplow trucks to clear snow and ice from assigned routes
  • Respond to call-ins with approximately 12+ hours' notice
  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Ensure proper signage, traffic control measures, and emergency response for weather events, accidents, and wildlife hazards
  • Maintain well-stocked maintenance facilities and complete necessary documentation, including logs, reports, and safety records
  • Safely transport hazardous materials and manage traffic in high-volume work zones and emergency situations
  • Maintain, service, and inspect company equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring proper care and security
  • Follow labour laws, company policies, safety regulations, and environmental compliance, while applying QA/QC standards for highway maintenance, road safety, and hazard assessments
  • Perform in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Operate additional heavy equipment as required to support project needs

What You Bring

  • Valid Class 3 or 1 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • Experience in operating and performing minor maintenance on light, medium, and heavy equipment is considered an asset
  • Prior snowplow or heavy equipment experience is an asset, but not required — training provided
  • Be able to work on call and perform on night shifts when needed

Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required.
