Job summary

Stichting Mission on Wheels is seeking a technical owner to take a training app from private testing to public launch. You will lead both the mobile frontend (React Native/Expo) and the backend, design sensor experiments and ML evaluations, and work closely with the founder in a hands-on role.

The project roadmap targets a December 2026 public app launch and a March 31, 2027 wearable sensor debut. Hybrid Calgary-based role with on-site collaboration several days weekly.

Qualifications

• Shipped production mobile apps and supported them after launch.
• Built and properly evaluated an applied ML system, informing product decisions.
• Strong backend, SQL, API and authorization skills, plus practical React/TypeScript.
• Experience with iOS and Android development and BLE data capture.
• Depth matters more than tenure; ownership of technical design and delivery calls.

Responsibilities

• Take the React Native/Expo app and backend through release, monitoring and operation.
• Build reliable data pipelines, access control, sensor ingestion and versioned datasets.
• Collaborate to design wearable measurements and ML experiments with the team.
• Turn validated findings into coaching features with checks and fallbacks.
• Set priorities with the visionary and ensure reproducible experiments.
