Job summary

GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our client’s team in Calgary, Alberta. This full-time position is offered as an Indigenous career opportunity and is ideally suited to an individual interested in beginning or advancing a career in the heavy duty mechanical trade.

The role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of heavy equipment in a safety-focused industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Registered apprentice or demonstrated interest in pursuing a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist journeyperson mechanics with inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy duty equipment.
• Perform routine servicing including lubrication, fluid changes, and component replacement.
• Support diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with site standards.
• Complete work orders, service reports, and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Follow all site safety procedures, job hazard assessments, and manufacturer guidelines.
