Qualifications

The Café Supervisor & Lead Barista will oversee daily operations of Café 1967, located in the lobby of the Sandman Signature Winnipeg Airport Hotel & Suites. This role requires personable, professional team members committed to exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will project a positive image, respond effectively to guest needs, and act as a brand ambassador by providing a high-quality, memorable experience for all guests.

DUTIES:
  • Café Operations: Oversee all aspects of daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, food and beverage prep, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.
  • Beverage Preparation: Craft high-quality specialty coffee drinks and light food offerings with consistency and efficiency.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Maintain accurate inventory, place supply orders, and ensure proper stock rotation and waste reduction.
  • Staff Oversight: Manage scheduling and coordination for yourself and one additional team member, ensuring coverage and high service standards.
  • Guest Experience: Provide courteous, professional service, creating positive customer experiences aligned with the hotel’s brand.
  • POS & Cash Handling: Operate the POS system, manage transactions, and complete end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining sanitation and food handling standards.
  • Coordination: Communicate regularly with hotel leadership to align with guest service expectations and operational goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • 1–2 years of experience as a barista, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods and café operations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with effective time and priority management
  • Availability for early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting
  • This is a permanent full-time position
