Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a GIS Technician to join the national GIS team. You will prepare, convert, georeference, validate, and maintain data from CAD sources, integrate into geodatabases, and produce maps and reference layers to support design coordination.

You will collaborate with GIS, CAD, BIM, engineering, and design teams, applying ArcGIS Pro editing, georeferencing, and geodatabasing, with a emphasis on quality control and traceability.

Qualifications

• Three years of CAD-to-GIS conversion experience.
• Experience georeferencing, coordinate systems, and geodatabases.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro editing, geoprocessing, and data management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, convert, georeference, validate, and maintain GIS data from CAD sources.
• Convert CAD data to GIS formats preserving geometry, attributes, units, and coordinate systems.
• Verify spatial positioning, projection, and alignment with project reference data.
• Structure and integrate converted data into geodatabases following standards and naming conventions.
• Perform quality control on geometry, attributes, topology, and data completeness.
• Document discrepancies and transformations for traceability and technical decisions.
• Update metadata, logs, and documentation; produce maps and reference layers.
• Collaborate with GIS, CAD, BIM, engineering, and design teams to resolve issues and meet schedules.
