Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, seeks an Equipment Designer/Drafter to create and manage 2D/3D models for engineering and product development. You will translate sketches and specs into accurate drawings and support project engineers by ensuring design intent and quality.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years CAD experience with Inventor and Creo, strong GD&T knowledge, and the ability to read technical drawings. Hybrid/office work options available.

Qualifications

• College diploma in mechanical engineering design and drafting technology or a related field.
• 2–5 years of professional CAD drafting or design experience.
• 2-5 years supporting mechanical products and assemblies in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Inventor and Creo.
• Strong understanding of dimensioning, tolerancing, and drafting standards (GD&T).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and documentation.
• Solid knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, or construction practices relevant to Manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (Inventor, Creo, similar tools).
• Interpret sketches, specifications and design notes to create accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers and designers to capture design intent.
• Maintain drawing accuracy through version control and drafting standards ASME Y14.
• Prepare layouts, assemblies, detail drawings, and BOMs as required.
• Perform basic design calculations to validate dimensions and tolerances.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Support manufacturing, construction, or fabrication packages.
• Identify issues and propose solutions to improve manufacturability.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, codes and project requirements.
