POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under general supervision, coordinates purchasing activities to meet forecast commits and processes purchase requests in a timely manner. Places order based on MRP requirements. Verifies price and delivery dates within established contracts but rarely negotiates. May be involved in administering EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) program. Expedites as necessary to meet production requirements. Works with incoming inspection and receiving to resolve discrepancies. Monitors supplier delivery. May research new supply sources but typically is working with a limited AVL list (e.g., OEM provided suppliers).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for the procurement and management of commodities in order to effectively manage the client’s supply chain. The goal is to ensure the optimal flow of defect-free materials at the lowest total acquisition costs.
  2. Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  3. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  4. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
  5. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, and general instructions on new assignments.
  6. Has the authority to make responsible decisions comparable to the scope of the position.
  7. Ensures proper action is taken to optimize the most cost and business effective solution and escalates issues when required.
  8. Maintains a competitive supplier base and utilizes effective negotiation strategies to obtain supply agreements ensuring continuity of supply and zero defects, at optimum cost.
  9. Contributes to accurate analyses to determine total cost of acquisition.
  10. Develops and maintains effective supplier relationships while measuring and reporting on supplier performance.
  11. Provides expertise relating to assigned commodities, trends, conditions within relevant markets, and new concepts/processes to Program Managers as required.
  12. Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced members of the team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Requires a minimum 5 years of related experience.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  3. Strong understanding of MRP and experience using Oracle.
  4. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  5. Well organized and detail-oriented.
  6. Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
  7. Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple demands.
  8. Strong customer focus and able to work effectively in team environments.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Able to obtain your Controlled Goods Certification, as well as International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) Clearance.
