We are currently recruiting for aBuyer for our facility inVancouver, BC Canada.

JOB OVERVIEW

To purchase assigned commodities and services (a wide variety of standard and special items) to proper specifications for function intended, from the best qualified supplier and assuring maximum return (lowest cost, highest quality, on-time delivery, etc.) for each dollar spent is obtained, all within ethical purchasing practices and Company policy.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

To support the BWXT Medical Canada division in performing the following:

  • Purchase assigned commodities and services, including items with a complex technical nature.
  • Negotiate contracts, complete Terms & Conditions review, and expedite favorable results with suppliers.
  • Review purchase requisitions to ensure scope is properly specified as to description and/or use.
  • Maintain an on-going value analysis and cost reduction effort for the assigned commodities.
  • Expedite all open orders and search for potential suppliers, negotiating cost reduction with existing supply base.
  • Obtain and review supplier quotations for materials, equipment and services in order to establish proper specification and commercial compliance.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Establish qualified suppliers and obtain competitive quotations. Issue Purchase Orders and ensure required deliveries are maintained.
  • Participate in the development and execution of LTA's with BWXT preferred suppliers, where appropriate.
  • Ensure supplier(s) consistently meets quality requirements in conjunction with Source Assurance.
  • Create excel metrics reports, expedite suppliers, track order status and work with internal team to resolve issues.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations and guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • College diploma or University degree; or relevant experience.
  • Sound knowledge of procurement and project management acquired through 5+ years related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of nuclear products would be an asset, as would nuclear quality experience.
  • Ability to negotiate high-value contracts, with proven track-record for cost savings.
  • Ability to manage and run RFI/RFP's.
  • 5 years+ of working with forecasting.
  • Supplier’s relationship development experience, proven negotiation skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Proven problem solver with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Proficiency with business related software applications, such as ERP (Oracle) MRP and Excel.
  • Effective team player and customer focused with the ability to develop effective relationships

The base salary range for this position in British Columbia (CA-BC)at the start of employment is expected to be between $74,000 and $$116,000.0 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives ano ffer of employment.
