We are currently recruiting for a Buyer for our facility in Vancouver, BC Canada.

JOB OVERVIEW

To purchase assigned commodities and services (a wide variety of standard and special items) to proper specifications for function intended, from the best qualified supplier and assuring maximum return (lowest cost, highest quality, on-time delivery, etc.) for each dollar spent, all within ethical purchasing practices and Company policy.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Purchase assigned commodities and services, including items with a complex technical nature.
  • Negotiate contracts, review Terms & Conditions, and expedite favorable results with suppliers.
  • Review purchase requisitions to ensure scope is properly specified as to description and/or use.
  • Maintain an ongoing value analysis and cost reduction effort for the assigned commodities.
  • Expedite all open orders and search for potential suppliers, negotiating cost reduction with existing supply base.
  • Obtain and review supplier quotations for materials, equipment, and services to establish proper specifications and commercial compliance.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Establish qualified suppliers and obtain competitive quotations. Issue Purchase Orders and ensure required deliveries are maintained.
  • Participate in the development and execution of LTAs with BWXT preferred suppliers, where appropriate.
  • Ensure supplier(s) consistently meet quality requirements in conjunction with Source Assurance.
  • Create Excel metrics reports, expedite suppliers, track order status, and work with internal teams to resolve issues.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • College diploma or University degree; or relevant experience.
  • Sound knowledge of procurement and project management acquired through 5+ years related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of nuclear products and nuclear quality experience are assets.
  • Ability to negotiate high-value contracts, with a proven track record for cost savings.
  • Ability to manage and run RFI/RFPs.
  • 5+ years of experience with forecasting.
  • Supplier relationship development, negotiation skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Proven problem solver with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Proficiency with ERP (Oracle), MRP, and Excel.
  • Effective team player and customer-focused with ability to develop relationships.

The base salary range for this position in British Columbia (CA-BC) at the start of employment is expected to be between $74,000 and $116,000 per year. The actual offer will depend on market factors and the candidate’s experience and skills. The total compensation may include other elements, such as annual incentives, medical, retirement, and other benefits. Details will be provided upon job offer.
