Job description

Marshall Canada requires a Buyer in Moncton, NB to join our team. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to manage the execution of purchase contracts and ensure timely delivery of materials. This role will coordinate and optimize production and assembly materials to maintain service availability while driving efficiency. Additionally, the position plays a key role in promoting best practices within our ERP/MRP system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy for seamless operations.

Your responsibilities in the role:

  • Work closely with the Purchasing Shared Services team to maximize material availability and minimize working capital exposure across the region’s production site.
  • Maintain close collaboration with the Planning, Warehousing, Operations, Project, and Engineering departments to ensure material supply is accurate, in full, and on-time.
  • Liaise with the Purchasing & Supply Chain Team to ensure supply-chain readiness to satisfy project requirements and/or to raise any risks of product/service quality and supplier performance.
  • Research and compare suppliers based on pricing, quality, availability, terms, and other relevant factors to secure the best procurement options for materials, supplies, services, and equipment.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best price and lead times, resolving any supply chain issues.
  • Perform routine day-to-day activities associated with the products and services administering and expediting purchase orders.
  • Issue purchase orders for designated commodities and equipment in compliance with Marshall policy, making necessary adjustments when requirements change, or costs exceed the initial order.
  • Liaise with customers/suppliers to respond to routine queries regarding contract and supply chain issues.
  • Receive Bills of Materials and carry out system checks on materials and services to be supplied to projects and shipping requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to provide internal visibility of material status and support on-time delivery in procurement operations.
  • Oversee contracts and purchase orders, expedite deliveries, verify invoice accuracy, and reconcile discrepancies. Escalate disputes, delays, shortages, and other procurement issues to the Senior Specialist - Purchasing Shared Services for resolution.
  • Set good standards and practices to maximize vendor delivery and quality performance through appropriate communication channels.
  • Set good standards and practices for supplier day-to-day management and relationship building, as well as KPI monitoring. Detect data quality issues and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure rectification – advise their team on the best way to proceed in case of error.
  • Look for opportunities to improve the accuracy of data to remove material order errors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Business (Supply Chain), or other technical discipline.
  • Procurement or Operations expertise (5+ years) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP and MRP systems, P2P and procurement processes.
  • Good numeracy skills/data management skills.
  • Proficient in advanced Excel functions and data analysis.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (IFS preferable).
  • ERP data management essential.
  • Procurement and/or purchasing experience.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to present data clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work under pressure with competing demands.

Must be eligible to meet the requirements of export control regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and Canadian government security requirements.
