Job summary

Bunzl Safety - Cambridge in Cambridge, ON, Canada is seeking a Buyer to manage select suppliers nationally across warehouses and optimize inventory costs. You will issue RFQs and purchase orders, monitor availability, and negotiate terms to meet customer requirements.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years in supply chain/procurement, familiarity with SCMA certification, and strong analytical/negotiation skills. Proficiency in SX Enterprise is an asset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years’ supply chain and procurement experience in a high-volume distribution environment.
• SCMA certification is preferred.
• Ability to effectively manage inventory and service levels.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and vendor-negotiation skills.
• Basic knowledge of financial statements and trial balance information.
• Proficient in Windows environment with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Experience with SX Enterprise is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain product availability considering sales trends, forecast, lead time and cost efficiency via RFQ and purchase orders.
• Manage inventory across multiple warehouses to reduce obsolete materials.
• Maintain frequent communication with suppliers to ensure on-schedule deliveries.
• Negotiate product availability to meet customer requirements and return goods to vendors.
• Meet key suppliers and visit facilities to understand operational efficiencies.
• Collaborate with sales, customer service, warehouse staff and clients.
• Support internal staff with supplier knowledge and resolve customer issues.

Description

As a Buyer you will have a great opportunity to manage selective key suppliers nationally across all warehouses. This opportunity will enable you to build strong business relationships with suppliers and understand the most cost effective ways to manage inventory across the network.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain product availability taking into consideration sales trend, forecast, lead time and cost efficiency: Issuing requests for quotations and purchase orders
• Manage inventory control for multiple warehouses to include inventory review to reduce and eliminate any obsolete materials
• Maintain frequent communications with suppliers to ensure project/quotation and deliveries are on schedule
• Negotiate product availability on time to meet customer requirements, managing the process of returning goods to vendors
• Meet key suppliers, conduct facility visits to have clear understanding of operational efficiencies
• Work closely with sales, customer service, warehouse staff and clients
• Support internal staff with expert knowledge and services, and resolves any customer complaints or problems

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and Minimum 3-5 years’ supply chain and procurement experience in a high volume distribution environment
• Certification from Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) is preferred
• Ability to effectively manage inventory and service level
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical and vendor negotiation skills
• Basic knowledge of financial statements and trial balance information.
• Ability to work in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Previous experience working with SX Enterprise an asset
