Job summary

Bunzl Safety - Cambridge in Cambridge, Ontario is seeking a Buyer to manage select key suppliers nationally across our warehouses. You will drive procurement, monitor inventory levels, and optimize costs to support the network.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years of supply chain/procurement experience in a high-volume environment, plus strong vendor negotiation and analytical skills. SCMA certification is a plus, and experience with SX Enterprise is an asset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and minimum 3–5 years’ supply chain and procurement experience in a high-volume distribution environment.
• Certification from Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) is preferred.
• Ability to effectively manage inventory and service levels.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and vendor negotiation skills.
• Basic knowledge of financial statements and trial balance information.
• Proficiency with Windows environment and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Previous experience working with SX Enterprise is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain product availability based on sales trends, forecast, lead time and cost efficiency; issuing RFQs and purchase orders.
• Manage inventory control for multiple warehouses; review to reduce obsolete materials.
• Maintain regular communication with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Negotiate product availability to meet customer requirements; handle returns to vendors.
• Meet key suppliers; visit facilities to understand operational efficiencies.
• Collaborate with sales, customer service, warehouse staff and clients.
• Support internal staff with supplier knowledge and resolve customer issues.

As a Buyer you will have a great opportunity to manage selective key suppliers nationally across all warehouses. This opportunity will enable you to build strong business relationships with suppliers and understand the most cost effective ways to manage inventory across the network.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain product availability taking into consideration sales trend, forecast, lead time and cost efficiency: Issuing requests for quotations and purchase orders
• Manage inventory control for multiple warehouses to include inventory review to reduce and eliminate any obsolete materials
• Maintain frequent communications with suppliers to ensure project/quotation and deliveries are on schedule
• Negotiate product availability on time to meet customer requirements, managing the process of returning goods to vendors
• Meet key suppliers, conduct facility visits to have clear understanding of operational efficiencies
• Work closely with sales, customer service, warehouse staff and clients
• Support internal staff with expert knowledge and services, and resolves any customer complaints or problems
