Job summary

PCL Constructors Inc. in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is offering a four-month Business Technology Student position in the Atlantic Canada district.

The role provides hands-on IT support, equipment setup, and reporting tasks across project sites with mentoring and real project exposure. You will gain experience in asset management, upgrades, and customer service while contributing to daily IT operations and cross-site coordination.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree/diploma in computer science, IT, or related field.
• Proficient with computers; basic hardware support.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; customer service focus.
• Ability to evaluate new technologies for business needs.
• Basic hardware and networking skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up users, printers, workstations; provide support in office and on site.
• Participate in upgrades and rollouts.
• Manage equipment assets and licenses.
• Create reports using Excel.
• Track and escalate IT issues; attend weekly meetings.
• Move monitors and hardware between sites.
• Assist with inventory and auditing equipment.
• Support other CS and systems tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

Join us as a Business Technology Student for our Atlantic Canada district, within our Canadian Corporate sector for 4 months starting January 2027. Depending on your assigned project as a Business Technology Student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

• Setting up new users, printers and workstations and providing phone and in-person support to the district – both in the office and at various site locations.
• Participating in upgrades and rollouts.
• Assisting with equipment asset and licensing management.
• Creating reports using Microsoft Excel.
• Tracking, escalating, and following up on IT related issues.Attending weekly team meetings.
• Moving monitors and other hardware/equipment between sites.
• Assisting with inventory and auditing computing equipment.
• Assisting in a variety of other customer service and systems related tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Proficient knowledge of computers (Microsoft office basic hardware support).
• Strong analytical skills with an appreciation for detail and accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
• Ability to evaluate and integrate technology as it relates to business needs.
• Basic hardware and networking skills.
