We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our team, reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology. This role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, and external service providers, supporting and enhancing distribution and back‑office integrations within the asset management environment. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable data flows, managing system integrations, troubleshooting data quality issues, and translating business requirements into effective technology solutions that support operational efficiency and business objectives.

This full‑time position is based in our Toronto office, with an expected annual compensation range of $75,000 – $90,000.

Responsibilities

Business Requirements Gathering and Analysis

• Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, digital enablement, and data‑driven decision making.
• Facilitate workshops, interviews, brainstorming sessions, and requirements gathering meetings with business and technology teams.
• Elicit, document, analyze, and validate business, functional, non‑functional, reporting, and data requirements.
• Develop detailed business requirement documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process maps, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Manage data quality, delivery timing, and system performance with external vendors.

Digital Transformation & Technology Delivery

• Support digital initiatives involving advisor portals, CRM platforms, workflow automation, data platforms, and customer experience enhancements.
• Collaborate with technical architects, developers, and product owners to translate business requirements into technology solutions.
• Participate in solution design discussions and provide business context to technology teams.
• Identify impacts to upstream and downstream systems.
• Evaluate technology solutions against business objectives.
• Assist with implementation planning and change management activities.

Data & Analytics Enablement

• Work closely with Data Engineering and business intelligence teams to define data requirements and reporting needs.
• Analyze complex datasets to identify business insights and support strategic decision‑making.
• Define key operational metrics, and reporting requirements.
• Support implementation of enterprise data governance standards.
• Assist in the development of dashboards, performance reports, and self‑service analytics solutions.
• Collaborate on data quality, data lineage, and master data management initiatives.

System Design and Implementation

• Lead testing, validation strategies, and monitoring of performance metrics.
• Oversee the integration of internal distribution and back‑office systems with third‑party vendors, ensuring seamless data flow and timely delivery of files.
• Develop system testing and validation strategies to monitor data accuracy, file delivery schedules, and performance metrics (e.g., response time, error rate).

Stakeholder Management and Communication

• Build strong relationships across business units and technology teams.
• Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by providing analysis, recommendations, and solution alternatives.
• Facilitate communication between technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and project priorities effectively.
• Present findings, recommendations, and project status updates to leadership teams.

Cloud Integration and Data Management

• Ensuring that data management practices support system performance, security, and governance.
• Continuously monitor third‑party integrations to ensure timely and accurate data exchange, resolving any data quality issues as they arise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant certifications are an asset.
• 3‑4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the mutual fund or asset management industry.
• Experience supporting technology delivery, digital transformation, data integration, and analytics initiatives.
• Proven ability to work with third‑party vendors to resolve data quality, delivery, and system performance issues.
• Proficiency with Python and SQL, including automation and data integration tasks.
• Experience using Confluence, JIRA, Visio, Power BI, and MS Dynamics.
• Working knowledge of Azure environments and system integration methods, including APIs and middleware.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating across business and technology teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Knowledge of financial services integration platforms, asset management operations, and regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
