Job Summary
The Business Systems Analyst, provides business analysis services for both project and operational activities. The Business Systems Analyst works with stakeholders from across the University to refine and align business functions with institutional strategic objectives.
The incumbent is analytical, analyzing and assessing business requirements and objectives, recommending, documenting, and designing systems and processes for business initiatives. The Business Systems Analyst possesses strong experience in solving challenging problems. The incumbent is independently motivated, has broad understanding of business and academic functions, and has a strong ability in leading and partnering with stakeholders across the University.
The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for defining business scope and objectives through research, fact-finding and a thorough understanding of applicable business and industry requirements. The incumbent acts as a liaison between business areas and solution teams across a diverse stakeholder portfolio, and will lead the organization through significant organizational change through the expert application of stakeholder engagement, relationship management and team building skills. This role also takes part in the implementation of systems and processes, ensuring they are aligned with organizational goals and effectively integrated into existing operations.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree with a technical, or business focus, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in business analysis supporting business outcomes in a technical environment is required.
- Experience configuring, implementing and supporting the development and continuous improvement of business applications.
- Completed courses in business analysis such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to analyze and recommend improvements to business processes across a wide variety of organizational areas.
- Ability to provide positive and proactive communications and presentations to stakeholders.
- Experience in working with vendors for resolution of application issues and questions. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to drive and implement business process change.
- Self-motivated problem solver with a desire to identify issues and formulate solutions that reduce risk and align with organizational strategies.
- Strong conflict resolution and change management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Knowledge of requirements gathering & analysis, stakeholder assessments as well as process modeling techniques.
- Knowledge of business analysis documentation techniques.
- Communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to complete work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to critically analyze information and problem solve.
