JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the incumbent holds overall responsibility for all material activities at the Penhorwood site, including open pit mining operation, mill operations, tailings management facility (TMF) construction/operation/maintenance, and management of associated environmental portfolio.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Management

• Leads, collaborates, and manages Penhorwood Mine and Mill activities for safe, efficient, and profitable operations. This includes mine planning, milling operations, environmental compliance, tailings and wastewater management, engineering activities, dam construction projects, TMF operations & maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Responsible for safety of employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Works with management teams, consultants, and contractors to develop and enforce mining, milling, and environmental strategies for sustainable operations.
• Ensures resource optimization, regulatory compliance, community relations, and fair labor practices.
• Directs teams to ensure professional development, performance management, and alignment with company objectives.
• Develops and maintains budgets for mining, milling, tailings, and wastewater projects.
• Provides guidance on mining, milling, and environmental policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Maintains professional relationships with stakeholders, government agencies, and communities.
• Represents the company at regulatory and community meetings, and supports incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Mine Management

• Coordinates comprehensive mining and environmental strategies supporting operations at Penhorwood and Timmins.
• Oversees ore control programs, resource planning, and reporting processes in line with company standards.
• Supports optimization of mine features for safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Supports development and implementation of mine closure activities.

Environmental Management

• Ensures all permits, compliance evaluations, and documentation are current and properly managed for the mine and tailings facilities.
• Oversees tailings and wastewater monitoring, directing contractors and consultants as needed.

Workplace: On site

Salary: $170,000 per year

Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time
