BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

POSITION DETAILS

Position Title: Business Development Manager

Location / Branch: Halifax

Reports To: Branch Sales Manager / Area Sales Manager

Position Purpose: The Business Development Manager is responsible for achieving net revenue growth by generating new business through identifying, targeting, and closing sales opportunities with new clients.

Job Duties:

Marketing & Market Strategy
  • Maintain awareness of the local market to identify new business opportunities.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing marketing plans for new and existing business development.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to provide clients with relevant collateral.
New Business Development
  • Identify, secure, and manage new clients and sales opportunities, managing vertical priorities and sales workflow.
  • Target key influencers and decision makers through networks and research, focusing on C-level and director-level contacts.
  • Make presentations, network, and pursue sales leads actively.
  • Work with Proposal Team on RFPs and proactive proposals, assisting with client information gathering and market data.
  • Maintain a positive public relations image within corporate policies and ethics.
  • Adhere to pricing and margin guidelines set by relevant authorities.
  • Position Drake as a trusted adviser on HR and productivity issues through our “One Drake” approach.
Account Management
  • Follow principles of Controlled Account Territory Management (CATM).
  • Maintain communication protocols and review accounts regularly to ensure revenue objectives are met.
Client Service & Delivery
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients, ensuring project completion by deadlines.
  • Supervise major applications and projects as needed.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide client education on products, services, and standards.
  • Monitor client orders and respond promptly to requests and complaints.
  • Conduct service audits and follow up on account activities.
Finance & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate client account files and submit reports as required.
  • Contribute to profitability and analyze financial details for operational improvements.
Quality, Compliance & OH&S
  • Adhere to corporate policies, local laws, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure documentation and procedures meet quality standards.
  • Promote a positive team environment.
Skill Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant business development experience.
  • Experience with major accounts, tenders, and proposals is an asset.
  • Ability to build long-term client relationships and focus on prospecting and closing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; CRM/ATS experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales Management, or related fields.
