Job summary

Purolator in Etobicoke, ON is seeking a Unit Manager to lead daily terminal operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and on-time service. You will supervise dispatch, road and yard activities, and guide frontline staff toward performance goals.

The role requires 3-5 years of leadership in logistics, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across shifts and in varying weather. This is an on-site position reporting to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• Willingness to support hands-on operational needs in various weather conditions.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Description

The Unit Manager is responsible for leading daily operations within the terminal to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time service delivery. This role provides leadership to frontline employees, manages performance, and supports a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Flexibility to support various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required
• Willingness to support hands‑on operational needs, including outdoor yard work in various weather conditions
• Energetic, proactive approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to conduct fact‑finding and workplace investigations as required
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Experience working in and managing unionized and non‑unionized employees

Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
