Business Development Manager

The Role

This position involves representing MCAP to the Mortgage Brokerage community within a specified territory. The primary responsibilities include retaining and expanding existing business with current MCAP registered brokers/agents, and acquiring new business from brokers/agents not yet registered with MCAP in the designated area. The Business Development Manager will be accountable for achieving specific annual targets, focusing on funded volume for new origination and refinancing, with secondary targets based on other business priorities set by the VP, Sales. This role is primarily remote, with travel required to brokers in the Greater Toronto Area, Southwestern Ontario, and MCAP offices. A valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Relationship Management – Retain, Grow, & Acquire
  2. Manage the “Optimal Broker Experience”
  3. Introduce MCAP products to new brokers via presentations and meetings
  4. Enhance results with existing brokers
  5. Identify and address new needs and opportunities
  6. Leverage sales and marketing programs like the Mpoints loyalty program
  7. Negotiate volume commitments with brokers
  8. Assist with broker registration and profile creation, maintaining data in Salesforce.com
  9. Identify and contact potential new brokers
  10. Educate brokers on products and programs
  11. Build professional relationships, fostering open communication
  12. Ensure brokers meet volume and funding metrics
  13. Conduct 10-12 meetings weekly, using agendas, scorecards, and reports

Marketing

  1. Create and execute innovative campaigns to drive business
  2. Regularly communicate updates via Salesforce.com on rate changes, incentives, policies, education, and service levels
  3. Attend industry events and trade shows

Planning

  1. Develop annual strategic territory and account plans
  2. Manage expenses prudently
  3. Organize work through a touch-point strategy
  4. Understand brokers’ business styles and attributes
  5. Follow up promptly on leads to expand customer base

Reporting

  1. Maintain broker information in Salesforce.com
  2. Complete KYC profiles for Submission Agents
  3. Log daily activities and promotions in Salesforce.com

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 5 years sales experience, preferably in Financial Services, or 2 years underwriting experience
  2. Results-oriented, creative, and innovative
  3. Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills
  4. Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills
  5. Proficient with MS Office, Web-Ex, and CRM tools
  6. Self-motivated, with integrity and responsibility
  7. Knowledge of mortgage broker network and industry trends
  8. University Degree; AMP or relevant courses preferred
