Job description

The Harris Poll Canada is seeking a Business Development Director to join a close-knit team leading the way in tech-driven market insights through innovative, cost-effective research solutions. As a Business Development Director, you will drive new business initiatives to meet sales targets and manage a team of managers. You will develop and execute effective sales strategies for yourself and your team. The ideal candidate has a proven record of securing new business, building strong relationships, and closing deals. You will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoy leading a high-performing sales team. This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days of work per week from our Toronto office, with occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize, develop, and execute effective sales plans for yourself and your team.
  • Present and confidently sell our innovative research solutions and technology with an innovative mindset.
  • Close deals, secure new business, and consistently surpass sales goals.
  • Lead, motivate, inspire, and manage a high-performing sales team.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide exceptional service.
  • Present a professional first impression of The Harris Poll by recognizing urgency and ensuring consistent follow-up.
  • Be available to travel for work.

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of sales experience.
  • Proven leadership and management experience.
  • Track record of generating leads, building pipelines, and achieving targets.
  • Expertise in advanced sales techniques, consultative selling, solution-based sales, and negotiation strategies.
  • Strong experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing sales teams to achieve peak performance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities for strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills, persuasive writing, and engaging sales presentation abilities.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and skilled in utilizing various channels, including social media, for networking and connecting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with efficient administrative abilities.
