Job summary

Abalone Construction in Edmonton is seeking skilled operators with grader or excavator experience for road construction, ponds, berms and land development. Candidates should be prepared for 50+ hour weeks, work outdoors in all weather, and operate with minimal supervision to achieve precise grading and surface preparation.

Applicants must have CSTS 2020, WHMIS 201, Ground Disturbance training, CSA-approved steel toe boots and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 seasons of grader or excavator experience in road construction / ponds / berms / land development
• Gradesman experience is considered an asset
• Must have CSTS 2020, WHMIS 201, Ground Disturbance training and CSA compliant steel toe boots
• Hard working with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Desire to complete tasks in a timely manner
• Valid vehicle and driver's license required

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner with daily inspections
• Establish and maintain haul roads
• Support stripping operations of existing surfaces – topsoil and aggregates
• Perform excavation for topsoil stripping rough grading, final grading, culvert installation, trenching, truck loading, concrete and asphalt removal
• Follow marks on grade stakes or hand signals
• Level soil, rock and debris
• Work under minimal supervision to finish final grade of common/subgrade and aggregate surfaces
• Work off survey layout with gradesman support and place materials within tolerance
• Material conditioning (drying)
• Perform other related duties as required
