Job summary

Contrans Vrac is seeking a Bulk AZ Long Haul Open board Owner Operator in Canada. The role involves pre‑trip inspections, loading/unloading bulk/dump products, tarp operation, trailer cleaning, and border crossing when required. You will work 5 days out, with 1–4 hour driving stints and regular equipment checks.

You must hold an AZ license, have valid CVOR and a clean driving abstract, and be able to lift 20–25 kg repeatedly. The job emphasizes safe operation and paperwork accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit to climb 12’ in and out of dump trailers.
• Must be able to lift 20–25 kg of material in and out of trailers.
• Minimum 1 year heavy haul experience or 3 years over‑the‑road experience.
• AZ license required; Canadian border crossing experience preferred.
• Good CVOR and clean driving abstract.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspections and operate equipment.
• Load and unload Bulk / Dump products.
• Tarp trailers and manage safe handling.
• Clean trailers, including frozen product.
• Remove cross bows from trailer tops.
• Enter/exit tractor and drive 1–4 hours segments.
• Operate on uneven ground at loading facilities.
• Handle equipment malfunctions safely.
• Maintain paperwork (logbooks, trip envelopes).
• Fuel the truck daily and keep unit clean.
• Communicate with dispatch, customers, safety, and maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Pre-trip inspections(Involve walking, bending, lifting and releasing the kingpin from the fifth wheel, approximately 50 pounds pulling force and winding dolly legs up or down, approximately 10 pounds force on the crank)
• Loading and off loading Bulk / Dump products
• Tarping (Opening and closing the trailer tarp on dump trailers, approximately15 pounds force twisting the tarp crank to open and up to 60 pounds pulling to close)
• Cleaning Trailers out (Sweeping the trailer after unloading – climbing,bending and walking.)
• Cleaning Trailers with Frozen product in side
• Removal of cross bows along the top of trailer (Requires hammer to removeall 10 cross bows)
• Climbing in and out of the tractor (approximately but not limiting to 2-4times daily)
• Driving (Driving can vary between 1 to 4 hours sitting and shifting thetransmission)
• Walking on uneven ground at different facilities while loading and off loading
• Dealing with Malfunctioning equipment (Trailer doors could get stuck,Trailer bows not easily coming out, issues with trapping system that may need extra force)
• Knowledge of axle weights
• Safe operation of equipment

• Must be able to cross various borders between Canada and the U.S Minimum of 1 year heavy haul experience
• Or 3 years over the road experience Licenses / Certificates: AZ license
• Qualifications / Skills: Good CVOR and good Drivers Abstract
• Will have to stay out 5 days
