Job summary

Contrans Vrac is seeking an experienced truck driver for heavy haul and cross-border work. You will perform pre-trip inspections, load and unload bulk/dump products, tarp trailers and ensure safe trailer operation.

The role involves climbing into trailers several times daily and lifting 20–25 kg as needed. Additionally, you will drive a tractor-trailer between facilities, coordinate with dispatch and safety, and maintain logs using an electronic logging device.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit to climb 12' in & out of dump trailers, 2–4 times daily.
• Ability to lift 20–25 kg of material in & out of trailers, 2–4 times daily.
• Cross-border duties between Canada and the U.S with a minimum 1 year heavy haul experience.
• AZ license required; CVOR and clean driver’s abstract expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspections and routine vehicle checks.
• Load and unload Bulk / Dump products and tarp trailers as needed.
• Operate trailer doors and closing mechanisms; manage cross bows and tarps.
• Drive tractor-trailer on routes; monitor equipment and safety.
• Maintain logs, paperwork, and communicate with dispatch, safety, and maintenance.

Job description

• Pre-trip inspections(Involve walking, bending, lifting and releasing the kingpin from the fifth wheel, approximately 50 pounds pulling force and winding dolly legs up or down, approximately 10 pounds force on the crank)
• Loading and off loading Bulk / Dump products
• Tarping (Opening and closing the trailer tarp on dump trailers, approximately15 pounds force twisting the tarp crank to open and up to 60 pounds pulling to close)
• Cleaning Trailers out (Sweeping the trailer after unloading – climbing,bending and walking.)
• Cleaning Trailers with Frozen product in side
• Removal of cross bows along the top of trailer (Requires hammer to removeall 10 cross bows)
• Climbing in and out of the tractor (approximately but not limiting to 2-4times daily)
• Driving (Driving can vary between 1 to 4 hours sitting and shifting thetransmission)
• Walking on uneven ground at different facilities while loading and off loading
• Dealing with Malfunctioning equipment (Trailer doors could get stuck,Trailer bows not easily coming out, issues with trapping system that may need extra force)
• Knowledge of axle weights
• Safe operation of equipment

Employment Requirements:

• Must be able to cross various borders between Canada and the U.S Minimum of 1 yearr heavy haul experience
• Or 3 years over the road experience Licenses / Certificates: AZ license
• Qualifications / Skills: Good CVOR and good Drivers Abstract
