Job summary

Sunnyside Mall in Bedford is seeking a Regular Full-Time Building Systems Technician to join our Facilities team. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of the facility's systems and grounds in alignment with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

The technician will maintain HVAC and water treatment systems, inspect life safety equipment, perform general maintenance, and participate in after-hours on-call duties. Contract oversight and thorough documentation are also required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline, preferably Heating & Cooling or Electrical systems, or equivalent experience.

Job description

Sunnyside Mall is looking for a Regular Full-TimeBuilding Systems Technician to join our dynamic Facilities team inBedford. The work of a Building Systems Technician is integral to the operation of this facility. In this role you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the facilities and grounds in accordance with internal policies and procedures and external regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Provides operation and maintenance of all systems and equipment associated with heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems and all water treatment systems.
• Inspects, tests, verifies, and maintains all life safety equipment operation.
• Performs general maintenance for buildings and grounds as required.
• Carries out after hours emergency response on-call duties on a rotational basis or as required by schedules.
• Contract management: supervise contractors and ensure contract specifications are being met; review existing contracts for changes/updates.
• Completes all required documentation related to work accurately and in a timely manner.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Required Skills:

• Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Heating & Cooling or Electrical systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Fourth Class Stationary/Power Engineer Certificate, Systems Maintenance Technicianor equivalent combination of education and experience would be an asset.
• Experience operating a computerized building system and related equipment considered an asset.
• Must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
• Ability to transfer technical knowledge to others.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Required to be on-call on a rotational basis.
