Job summary

Plan Group Inc. in Markham, Ontario is seeking a Building Operator to ensure smooth facility operations. You will inspect and monitor all systems, perform minor repairs on electrical and mechanical infrastructure, and collaborate with engineers and vendors to minimize downtime.

The role requires 2–3 years in mission-critical facilities, knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems, and strong communication skills. Rotating 12-hour shifts and competitive hourly pay are offered.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centres).
• Experience in union and non-union environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical systems, UPS, generators, HVAC; Fire Alarm Systems.
• BES and relevant certifications are a plus.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues promptly.
• Detail-oriented with thorough maintenance documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Be prepared for emergencies, providing expertise to minimize disruptions.
• Improve operational procedures for data center efficiency and reliability.

• Detail-oriented, ensuring optimal system function and thorough maintenance documentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces).

Work Conditions

• Location: Markham, ON
• Rotating shifts (12 hours each), including days, afternoons, and nights
• $30-$38/hour (open to renegotiation based on experience).
