Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education is seeking a custodian to maintain safe, sanitary, and orderly school facilities. The role reports to the Director of Operations or designate and is temporary until the incumbent returns.

Hours are 40 per week, 14:30–23:00, with duties including cleaning floors, stocking supplies, operating cleaning equipment, and reporting maintenance needs.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent, or willingness to obtain.
• Driver's license would be considered an asset
• Experience or formal training in cleaning would be considered an asset
• Computer skills would be an asset

Responsibilities

• Ensure secure, safe and sanitary conditions of the facility and grounds, including alarms, locks, snow removal, dusting, sweeping, washing and garbage pickup.
• Perform cleaning, maintenance and restoration of floors (stripping and waxing).
• Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies and order as needed.
• Operate and care for equipment related to the position.
• Complete daily checklist of duties.
• Report maintenance concerns to the principal/vice principal.

JOB SUMMARY: An employee hired to perform custodial duties is responsible to the Director of Operations or designate.

STATUS : TEMPORARY until the return of the incumbent.

POSITION: Year-round

HOURS OF WORK : 40 hrs/week 14:30 - 23:00 (times may vary during school breaks)

WAGE RATE : As per CUPE Local 4165 Agreement $24.81

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Grade 12 or equivalent or willing to obtain
• Driver's License would be considered an asset
• Experience/formal training cleaning in a related field would be considered an asset.
• Computer skills would be an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Ensure secure, safe and sanitary conditions of the facility and grounds, such as setting alarms, locking doors, snow removal, dusting, sweeping, washing and garbage pickup.
• Perform cleaning, maintenance and restoration of floors. i.e., stripping and waxing.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies and order as needed.
• Operate and care for equipment related to the position.
• Make routine repairs regularly.
• Develop work methods in agreement with the Director of Operations or designate for assigned tasks.
• Report maintenance concerns to the principal/vice principal.
• Check daily with the school principal/vice principal for specific school needs.
• Complete daily checklist of duties.
• Perform other job-related duties.
