Job summary

Colliers International is seeking Building Operator professionals to support daily operations across our Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto properties. You will manage building systems, respond to tenant requests, and coordinate with contractors to ensure reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in a commercial real estate setting, relevant Power Engineering certification, strong communication, a valid driver's license, and the ability to multitask on rotating on-call

Qualifications

1 to 3 years of related experience in a commercial real estate environment.
5th or 4th Class Power Engineering Certification, BES I & II, or an equivalent designation.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to multitask and respond effectively to time-sensitive priorities.
Flexibility to work varied hours and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain building automation systems and equipment (HVAC, boilers, pumps, generators).
Start up/shut down and regulate mechanical and electrical systems (RTUs, heating equipment).
Monitor system performance and take corrective action when needed.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Maintain indoor air quality by managing ventilation and filter servicing.
Inspect building systems, report maintenance needs to management.
Keep mechanical/electrical rooms clean, safe, and operational.
Respond to tenant service requests and emergencies promptly.
Coordinate with external contractors for maintenance and repairs while ensuring safety standards.
Adhere to safety policies and regulatory requirements.
