Job summary

Harvard Developments is seeking a Building Operator for an immediate 6-month contract in Calgary to join its facility maintenance team. This role focuses on delivering an exceptional customer experience and ensuring properties are well cared for in a safe, environmentally conscious manner.

You will operate building automation, fire life safety, and mechanical/electrical systems; manage contractors for cleaning, security, HVAC, and snow removal; and carry out planned maintenance, with travel to

Qualifications

• Valid Power Engineer certificate and clean driving record.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot building systems and safety protocols.
• Proficient in English, with strong listening and communication skills.
• Capable of working independently or with a team and prioritizing safety.
• Comfort with computer-based work and digital devices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an exceptional customer experience to customers within the assigned portfolio.
• Respond to customer service requests within safety, comfort, cleanliness, responsiveness, follow-up and communication standards.
• Operate the building automation, fire life and safety, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain positive contractor relationships while overseeing contracted services (cleaning, security, HVAC, grounds, snow removal, etc.).
• Carry out the planned maintenance program for the properties.
• Assist the management team to achieve customer, financial and organizational objectives.
• Travel to remote facilities about one week per month to site visits and coordinate maintenance activities.

Harvard Developments has an immediate opening for a Building Operator (6-month contract) to join its facility maintenance team in Calgary. This position is accountable to provide an exceptional customer experience throughout its managed portfolio.This position is suited to a friendly individual interested in working with a dedicated team to ensure the properties are well cared for and maintained in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.

Harvard is a full-service real estate management company based in Western Canada that is recognized for its reputation in leadership, flexibility, quality and performance, currently overseeing 10 million square feet of commercial properties with regional offices in Regina, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.

The Building Operator will:

• Deliver an exceptional customer experience to customers within the assigned portfolio
• Respond to customer service requests within standards established for safety, comfort, cleanliness, responsiveness, follow up and communication;
• Operate the building’s automation, fire life and safety, mechanical and electrical systems;
• Maintain positive contractor relationships while overseeing contracted services such as cleaning, security, HVAC, grounds, snow removal, etc.
• Carry out the planned maintenance program for the properties;

• Assist the management team achieve its customer, financial and organizational objectives; and
• Travel to various remote facilities totaling approximately one week per month to complete building visits, inspections and coordinate maintenance activities.

What you will bring to the job:

• A high level of commitment to serving customers;

• A valid 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency and driver’s license with a clean abstract and access to a vehicle;
• A mechanical inclination with practiced motor skills and capacity to perform physical work;
• Proficiency in the English language both written and verbal, as well as strong listening and collaborative skills that enable positive and beneficial relationships;
• Good computer literacy with experience using digital devices;
• A working knowledge of general workplace safety practices and requirements; and
• The ability to work independently or collaboratively as circumstances may dictate, using personal initiative and sound judgment to achieve purchasing guidelines, project schedules and budget.
