Job description

Allied is looking for a Building Operator to join our Technical Services team in Vancouver.

At Allied, everything starts with purpose. In the role of Building Operator, you will monitor, maintain, and adjust building equipment to ensure efficient operations. You will also provide excellent customer service to tenants, completing work orders and requests promptly.

What will you do?

1. Building Operations & Maintenance: Monitor, adjust, and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems. Inspect and repair equipment such as boilers, heat pumps, air conditioning units, and lighting to keep everything running efficiently.
2. Tenant Support: Respond promptly to tenant requests and work orders, keeping tenants updated and ensuring issues are resolved effectively.
3. Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance like filter and belt changes, minor plumbing repairs, lighting replacements, and cleaning of common areas and mechanical rooms. Log readings, inspect for irregularities, and troubleshoot as needed.
4. Contractor Oversight: Supervise contractors to ensure safety protocols are followed and work meets Allied’s standards.
5. Seasonal Support: Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting, landscaping, and weather-related property upkeep.
6. Safety & Compliance: Conduct fire system tests and safety checks, maintain regulatory compliance, and follow safety procedures to protect tenants and property.
7. Emergency Response: Be available for after-hours calls and emergencies, responding and escalating issues promptly.

What are we looking for?

• Experience: At least 2 years in building operations or maintenance roles, with experience in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with Provincial Building Code & Regulations, Canadian Electrical Code, Provincial Fire Code, and Electrical Safety Authority standards.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving, accountability, and customer service skills.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights using safety ladders, booms, or lifts; lift 25 lbs; and work on-call shifts or overtime as needed.
• Certifications: 4th or 5th class Operating Engineer or provincial trades certification is an asset but not required.
