Job Summary

Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for cleaning as well as performing minor maintenance and repair duties at our branch facilities including: washing toilets and hand basins; dusting; sweeping, mopping, waxing and polishing floors; vacuuming; basic plumbing; minor carpentry and repair work; painting and touch-up work; and maintaining outside grounds. The incumbent also assists the Trades Maintenance workers with minor jobs and furniture moves as required.

Requirements
  • Completion of the tenth school grade and a training course as a Building Service Worker, plus considerable related experience in building trades and maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in painting, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • Understanding of occupational hazards and safety measures related to building trades.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Good interpersonal skills to maintain satisfactory relationships with staff.
  • Capability to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, or painting repairs without fully qualified tradesman assistance.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work on scaffolding, or in cramped positions.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's license for British Columbia, if applicable.
Additional Details
  • Affiliation: CUPE 391
  • Employment Type: Auxiliary
  • Salary: $27.78 to $32.56 per hour
  • Work Schedule: Shifts from 4am – 12pm, including Sundays and Tuesdays, with a minimum of 20 hours/week. Schedule may change with notice.
  • Closing Date: Monday, May 26th, 2025 at 11:59pm
