SUMMARY

Technician III - 5th Class Power Engineer is responsible for operating and maintaining the facility's mechanical and supporting systems, performing inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and fire protection standards.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshooting

  • Observe and report on facility conditions, mechanical and electrical equipment, and system deficiencies, providing suggestions for improvements and repairs.

Maintenance

  • Perform maintenance tasks following established processes and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, safety, and fire protection requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections, preventative, and corrective maintenance to meet uptime objectives and maintain asset integrity.
  • Respond to service requests and perform necessary repairs on mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Monitor facility systems through walkthroughs and operate mechanical and other systems.
  • Manage work orders from dispatch to completion, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs.
  • Perform general upkeep activities such as cleaning, painting, minor carpentry, landscaping, and snow removal.
  • Handle day-to-day repairs including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and furniture.
  • Manage loading dock materials.

Client Relations

  • Enhance tenant and customer satisfaction through quality service delivery.

Administration

  • Participate in facility-related projects.
  • Ensure all work complies with corporate policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain tools and submit expenditures timely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma with trades training or certification/licensing.
  • At least 3 years of experience in maintenance of HVAC, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance practices, and building systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and building systems.
  • Strong safety awareness.
  • Client-service focus and high urgency.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC systems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Mentoring abilities for supporting junior technicians.
  • Willingness to work shifts, on-call, and respond to emergencies.
  • Adherence to health and safety policies, including PPE usage.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance and hold a valid driver's license.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification is preferred.
