Job Summary:

As a Building Engineer, you will utilize your expertise in mechanical building systems and Ainsworth’s data analytics tools to achieve sustainability outcomes. Your main goal is to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in large commercial and residential buildings across Canada. You will also conduct Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) of HVAC system operational data and energy metering data, delivering results to clients through ongoing service models.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide data-driven analytics and ongoing commissioning and optimization of HVAC systems across a portfolio of buildings.
  2. Optimize chiller and boiler plant operations through control sequence improvements.
  3. Investigate and resolve unexpected increases in HVAC equipment usage.
  4. Investigate and resolve unstable equipment operation and faults.
  5. Communicate technical solutions clearly to clients and team members.
  6. Coordinate with third-party BAS technicians to promote data-driven maintenance.
  7. Offer additional consulting services aligned with Ainsworth’s business development activities.
  8. Identify and develop opportunities for business growth and sales within existing client relationships.
  9. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering designation is an asset.
  • Experience in building re-commissioning, BAS programming, or energy management.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and energy efficiency principles.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, HVAC systems, control techniques, and energy optimization strategies.
  • Strong communication, innovation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract and willingness to travel.
  • Proven experience in client relationship development.
