Job summary

The City of Mississauga is seeking a Building Inspector to join the Building Division. You will conduct inspections, ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code, and maintain accurate records to support safe buildings and communities.

With a hybrid workplace and a competitive salary, you will coordinate with designers, contractors and city staff, manage your own geographic area, and take on related duties as required in a professional and customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified as referenced in Division C Section 3.1.4., of the Ontario Building Code.
• Minimum 3–5 years of directly related work experience; municipal experience is a definite asset.
• Knowledge of Building Code Act, Ontario Building Code and applicable laws as they apply to buildings.
• Maintain qualification as referenced in Division C Section 3.1.4., of the Ontario Building Code; attend courses to keep knowledge current.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections on all types of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code.
• Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records in electronic and manual formats.
• Interact professionally with the public, designers, contractors and colleagues.
• Respond to inquiries and prepare information for files and reports.
