Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education is seeking a Controls Technician to maintain and enhance energy management systems across HRCE facilities. The role involves installing, repairing and upgrading EMS components, and supporting HVAC operational reliability.

You will troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic controls, monitor EMS alarms, and work with on-duty supervision to ensure high-quality building operations. Strong mechanical aptitude and a valid NS driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent as required.
• Diploma or certification in a building controls trade.
• Experience with building automation systems and HVAC.
• Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and upgrade EMS and HVAC components.
• Monitor EMS alarms and troubleshoot electrical/electronic controls.
• Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades; follow safety standards.
• Coordinate with maintenance supervisors and regional managers.
