Job summary

Rank Group in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Controls Technician to join our team. The Controls Technician will test, program, startup, and perform preventative maintenance of the Building Automation Systems (BAS) within our portfolio.

Responsibilities include diagnosing BAS issues, meeting with tenants, coordinating with the Chief Building Engineer, calibration, commissioning, documentation, and training colleagues.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of commercial controls experience in HVAC, DDC, software and device calibration.
  • Relevant technical degree or diploma.
  • Knowledge of Distech controls systems would be a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication, customer service skills and team player.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and diagnose BAS operational and control issues, recommending corrective actions.
  • Meeting with tenants and clients regarding BAS issues and remedial actions.
  • Work closely with the Chief Building Engineer to ensure the Access Control System functions properly.
  • Diagnose issues with the Access Control System and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and subtrades as required.
  • Perform software/hardware calibration required for proper equipment and system operation.
  • Report BAS deficiencies between design-build documents and actuals.
  • Liaise with contractors to commission and startup the Building Automation Systems for new builds.
  • Complete project commissioning documentation for the owner if required.
  • Maintain ongoing project as-built documentation.
  • Assist the Chief or Owner if equipment trending is required.
  • Provide training and information to colleagues on BAS for cross-training.
  • Work safely and in adherence to OH&S regulations.
  • Report unusual situations to the Chief Building Engineer.
  • Maintain clear and orderly work areas.

Rank Group is currently seeking a Controls Technician to join our team.
