Job summary

McElhanney invites applications for an Intermediate Bridge Engineer to join our Kamloops, BC office. The role focuses on design, inspection, evaluation, and construction support for bridge projects within Western Canada.

You’ll contribute to a seasoned bridge team of 45 engineers and technologists, with opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and long-term career growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering.
• 5–12 years of bridge design and analysis experience.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in good standing in BC, or eligibility for registration.
• Demonstrated experience applying local design codes and practices.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong initiative and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide design support for structural projects, mainly bridges, with potential for walls, culverts, and marine structures.
• Collaborate in integrated teams to meet schedules, budgets and quality standards.
• Provide structural inspections and/or construction supervision for structural projects.
