Job summary

GWC General Contractors in Ontario seeks an experienced on-site mason to perform bricklaying, block laying and veneer work for residential and commercial projects. You will work at heights, follow designs, and ensure quality masonry finishes.

You will lay bricks, stone and other units, construct chimneys and fireplaces, and supervise junior workers. English required; 1–2 years experience; secondary school certificate.

Qualifications

• English language required for on-site communication and safety.
• Secondary school graduation certificate is required.
• 1 year to 2 years of masonry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units
• Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing
• Construct and install prefabricated masonry units
• Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations
• Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
• Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
• Instruct apprentices
• Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces
• Supervise other workers
