Job summary

Role Summary & Purpose:

The Mixing Assistant is responsible for accurately preparing, mixing, and blending beverage batches according to established recipes and production standards. This role ensures that all ingredients are measured, mixed, and tested for quality in compliance with company procedures and safety requirements. The Mixing Assistant plays a key role in maintaining product consistency, sanitation, and efficient workflow within the Mixing Department.



Key Responsibilities

1. Blending Operations

  • Accurately weigh, measure, and prepare powders, juices, and liquid ingredients according to recipe specifications.
  • Operate industrial blenders with capacities up to 26,000 litres in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor mixing processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality of finished product.
  • Complete customer orders by transferring materials from original containers into custom order sizes (up to 55 lbs).
  • Pick and stage ingredients from the warehouse as required for production.

2. Quality & Compliance

  • Conduct product testing using measurement and testing equipment to verify blend accuracy and quality standards.
  • Document all required quality and production data clearly and accurately.
  • Follow GMP, HACCP, and company quality protocols at all times.
  • Report any deviations, contamination risks, or quality concerns immediately to the Mixing Supervisor.

3. Health and Safety & Sanitation

  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safe work procedures at all times.
  • Recognize and report hazards or near‑misses in accordance with Health & Safety policies.
  • Support a respectful, inclusive, and cooperative work environment.
  • Follow all health, safety, and lockout/tagout procedures in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work environment.

4. Administration & Documentation

  • Complete all blending documentation including batch sheets, raw material requisitions, and drum tags.
  • Record ingredient usage, batch numbers, and quality results accurately.
  • Ensure production records are properly completed and submitted as required.

5. Attendance & Team Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time, ready to work at the start of the shift and after breaks.
  • Notify your Supervisor of any absences or delays prior to shift start.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, maintenance, and supervisors to ensure smooth shift transitions.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Suggest and participate in process improvements that enhance safety, quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Participate in training or development opportunities to expand technical and operational skills.
  • Adapt to changing production needs and perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Requirements


Education

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.


Experience

  • Prior experience in food or beverage manufacturing is an asset; forklift experience preferred.


Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy (most critical attribute).
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
  • Strong organizational and housekeeping skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs repeatedly and perform physical work such as bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Comfortable working in wet, dusty, and noisy environments.


Availability

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts (Days/Afternoons/Nights), weekends, and overtime as required.
