Job summary

Coldstream Clear Distillery Limited in Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled Process Technician to support our production facility with technical troubleshooting, process optimization, and preventive maintenance. • Industrial electrician, machinist, millwright, or engineering technologist by training; journeyman status prioritized.
• Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting, robotics on automated lines.

• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude across multiple systems.
• Knowledge of LEAN, 5S, and process improvement methodologies.
• Proven ability to create SOPs and implement structured processes.

Responsibilities

• Align daily priorities with the Director of Engineering and Maintenance and departmental goals.
• Partner with facilities technician and external vendors during installs, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Provide clear documentation, feedback, and recommendations to leadership.
• Use Monday.com for task management with weekly performance reviews.
• Identify process inefficiencies and recommend throughput, quality, and safety improvements.
• Collaborate with Production Engineer to design and implement sustainable process improvements.
• Support process creation and optimization for new lines or equipment.
• Develop SOPs and apply LEAN methodologies to improve efficiency and standardize workflows.
• Support 5S infrastructure and housekeeping to maintain a safe, organized workplace.

YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and hands‑on Process Technician to support our production facility through technical troubleshooting, process optimization, and preventative maintenance. This role will focus on automation systems, PLCs, robotics, and production equipment including product blending & mixing equipment, bottling line, c anning line, and warehouse operations. The Process Technician role will primarily act as the first and main line of defence on reactive problem solving of all process unit operations. This role will also have the heaviest influence of any individual team member in improving process operations to be more reliable through routine adjustments and the implementation of robust and organized preventative maintenance. The successful candidate will embody and a passion and mentality for building, This will need to be demonstrated through systems & processes, as well as physical improvements that support our team and reliable production output. The process technician will also play a key role in new equipment installations, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) creation under LEAN methodologies (daily operational checklists, total ownership of equipment and work zones, and more), and company-wide continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Maintenance, this role bridges hands‑on technical execution with structured process improvement, ensuring equipment safety, reliability, and efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the Director of Engineering and Maintenance to align daily priorities with departmental goals.
• Partner with the facilities technician, the greater Coldstream Clear team, and external vendors during equipment installs, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Provide clear documentation, feedback, and recommendations to leadership.
• Using Monday.com as a task management and communication tool, with a large portion of the evaluation of work to be reviewed based on tasks completed on a weekly basis.
• Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance throughput, quality, and safety.
• Collaborate with the Production Engineer to design and implement sustainable process improvements.
• Support process creation and optimization for new production lines or equipment.
• Process Development & SOPs
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Apply LEAN methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and standardize workflows.
• Support 5S infrastructure, and housekeeping initiatives to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workplace.

Equipment & Automation Support

• Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize PLCs, robotics, various types of filling & packaging machines, and automated systems.
• Support new equipment installations, commissioning, and integration into production lines.
• Perform hands‑on maintenance and adjustments on product blending & mixing equipment, bottling and
• canning lines, and warehouse systems.
• Preventative Maintenance
• Identify & execute preventative maintenance tasks to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of production equipment.
• Document and track maintenance activities in alignment with facility standards.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend long‑term solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Industrial electrician, machinist, millwright, engineering technologist, or similar technical education or training. – Journeyman status and prior experience will be prioritized
• Hands‑on experience with PLC troubleshooting, robotics, precise mechanical machines, and automated
• Food & Beverage production systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with ability to work across multiple systems.
• Knowledge of LEAN, 5S, and process improvement methodologies.

• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to high‑quality work.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications considered a strong asset:

• Experience/Familiarity with PLCs
• Experience/Familiarity maintenance tracking systems.
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards and compliance requirements.
• Exposure to food/beverage or high‑speed packaging environments.
