This position is based at our remote location in Nunavut, with a 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation and 12-hour workdays. Transportation is provided from Edmonton.

The Breakfast Cook reports to the Chef and is responsible for ensuring the freshness, quality, consistency, and variety of breakfast served on time. Responsibilities include preparing and cooking breakfast per requirements, ensuring all meals meet high standards, and maintaining safety protocols, including drug, alcohol, and fit-to-work testing.

Working Conditions:

  • Remote camp environment with extended periods away from home (4 weeks on / 2 weeks off)
  • Extreme weather conditions in Nunavut
  • Extended darkness during winter months

Your work will include:

  • Preparing breakfast menus as approved by the Chef
  • Preparing a fruit bar and breakfast sandwiches
  • Cooking eggs to order and preparing ingredients for omelet bars
  • Creating breakfast specials (e.g., Blueberry pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Waffles, crepes)
  • Preparing RTE containers from leftovers
  • Setting up and cleaning steam tables
  • Assisting with kitchen cleanup and sanitation
  • Maintaining organized coolers and stock areas
  • Providing courteous guest service
  • Checking and documenting temperatures of coolers/freezers
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chef

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Experience in high-volume hot breakfast service
  • Current Food Safe certification
  • Experience in camp, banquet, or hotel kitchens is a plus
  • Red Seal or similar certification is an asset
  • Experience with inventory and baked goods is advantageous
  • Previous supervisory experience is a plus
  • Team-player committed to client satisfaction
  • Valid government-issued photo ID for travel
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive hand work
