Overview
The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests in an efficient and courteous manner within the hotel’s complimentary breakfast area.
Responsibilities
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and name tag.
- Greet and seat guests promptly.
- Ensure quality control of menus regarding cleanliness and appearance.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables and hotel spaces as per instructions.
- Keep service areas stocked, organized, clean, and neat; complete all side work each shift.
- Accommodate guest requests and offer alternatives when necessary.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding VIP guests.
- Support beverage and food service, including dishwashing, restocking, cleaning, and floor maintenance.
- Know standards for room service orders.
- Be familiar with menu items and specials.
- Handle cashiering duties, including check closing and shift paperwork.
- Perform opening and closing duties and side work as assigned.
- Answer guest questions about the hotel, local attractions, and services.
- Perform additional duties or attend meetings as required.
- Produce high-quality drinks, including coffee, tea, cocktails, and other beverages as needed.
Qualifications
- Attention to detail, speed, and accuracy in job performance.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred; hotel or related experience is a plus.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Legal age to serve alcohol and pass responsible serving training (e.g., TIPs).
- Ability to obtain a Food Handlers card as required.
- Ability to evaluate situations and act quickly and accurately.
- Calm, professional handling of stressful situations.
- Understanding of hotel products and guest services.
- Professional communication skills for guest and team interactions.
- Positive attitude and service-oriented mindset.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Numerical skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to read, understand, and write simple instructions or memos.
