Base pay range

CA$24.00/hr - CA$26.50/hr

Position Summary

The Brake Press Operator will be responsible for operating numerically controlled brake press to bend, notch, punch, form, arc, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal and structural shapes to blueprint or sketch specifications by performing the following duties.

This position is 100% on-site, located at 2 Walker Drive, Brampton

Shift

Monday to Friday, Afternoon Shift - 3:30pm to 12:00am

Responsibilities

• Operates Brake Press from previously set-up programs and will typically perform longer run jobs.
• Starts machine to lower ram or depress pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal.
• Verifies dimensions of work piece by comparing to drawings, on all parts
• Place completed parts on storage table for delivery to next workstation
• Set up and operate a CNC brake press with minimum supervision.
• Able to read/interpret blueprints and/or worksheets.
• Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Able to use caliper and other measurement tools with accuracy.
• Able to practice troubleshooting, problem-solving and proper judgement in certain situations.
• Verifies dimensions of work piece by comparing to drawings on all parts
• Able to use basic production tools

• High School Diploma and/or specialized training/certification.
• At least 3-5 years work experience as a brake press operator in a Manufacturing plant setting.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Basic knowledge of MS applications/internet/email.
• Should possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both effectively as part of a team and individually.

• Lifting: Able to lift at least 35 pounds unassisted.
• Standing: Requires prolonged periods of standing while operating the brake press and performing tasks.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for operating controls, manipulating parts, and handling measurement tools.
• Repetitive Motion: Repetitive bending, reaching, and pushing of machine controls.
• Vision: Must be able to see and interpret blueprints, measurements, and other documentation accurately, often working with small or detailed components.
• Physical Stamina: Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment with periodic heavy lifting and manual tasks.
• Mobility: Requires movement between workstations, lifting, and positioning metal plates or components.
• Kneeling or Stooping: Occasional kneeling or stooping may be required when placing or adjusting parts or machines.
