Qualifications

  • Typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Physical capability to perform duties.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and book client/patient appointments and follow-up visits.
  • Provide clerical and reception support, greet clients and direct them appropriately.
  • Maintain and update appointment calendars for designated physicians.
  • Prepare and confirm client/patient information and print daily schedules.
  • Arrange patient transportation as needed.
  • Enter data into computerized systems and maintain charts.
  • Perform timekeeping functions for designated staff.

Job description

The salary range for this position is CAD $28.74/Hr. - CAD $28.74/Hr.

Come work as a Booking Clerk/Secretary with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Gynecology Clinic team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver,BC.

Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, position provides scheduling/booking, clerical and reception functions for the area. Duties include scheduling and booking a variety of client/patient appointments and follow up visits, tests and referrals, maintaining appointment calendars for all designated physicians and/or other designated health care professionals, maintaining and printing daily schedules that integrate activities from various sites as needed, rearranging schedules to meet changing demands/requests and preparing and confirming client/patient information. Maintains client/patient charts entering data into a computerized system and updating statistics on client/patient attendance. Arranges for patient transportation. Provides clerical functions that include typing technical and non-technical materials proficiently utilizing a variety of computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software. Provides reception services by greeting clients/patients and others and directing them to appropriate areas and/or responding to general inquiries. Answers and responds to phone messages or forwards callers to appropriate health care professional or other personnel. Maintains departmental equipment, supplies and filing systems. Performs timekeeping functions for designated staff as required.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.

Education & Experience
  • Grade 12, two year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
