Johnson Controls in Vancouver, Canada, is seeking a Boiler Service Technician to install, startup, and maintain boilers in the field, testing performance and reliability on customer equipment.

You will work with PLCs, transformers, transmitters, and other controls, wiring all controls and motors, and reading wiring diagrams. Strong knowledge of boiler controls (Honeywell, Fireye, Siemens) and a solid mechanical/electrical background are essential.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hot water heating systems and controls.
  • Class A Gas ticket.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of boiler controls including Honeywell, Fireye, and Siemens.
  • Mechanical and electrical background is a must.
  • Troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Five years' experience in electrical, control, and boiler field.
  • Backflow testing ticket preferred, or willingness to take courses to become ticketed.

Responsibilities

  • Wire, fire, and test boilers in the field; startup and maintenance of customer equipment.

  • Determines valve trim, regulator size and spring, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.
  • Maintain condition of and inventory of all tools and monitors.
  • Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
  • Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Support other technicians and management with internal and external projects.
  • Adhere to company policies.
  • Work both in a team and independent environment.

What you will do
  • The Boiler Service Technician will be responsible for wiring, firing, and testing boilers in the field. This position is responsible for the Startup and Maintenance of the customer equipment.
  • Have knowledge of PLC's, transformers, transmitters, and other controls.

What We Look For
  • Be able to read and work from schematics.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in hot water heating systems and controls.
  • Class A Gas ticket.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of boiler controls including Honeywell, Fireye, and Siemens.
  • Mechanical and electrical background is a must.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Must be able to retrofit control systems in the field.
  • Must have the ability and knowledge to troubleshoot systems with no schematic.
  • Five years' experience in electrical, control, and boiler field.
  • Backflow testing ticket preferred, or willingness to take courses to become ticketed.

Pay Range: $71.43 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
