Job summary

Grimsby Hyundai, part of Performance Auto Group, seeks an experienced Body Shop Apprentice to join our team in Grimsby, Ontario. You will support auto body repairs, dismantling damaged parts, and assisting with frame realignment to restore structural integrity.

Ideal candidates hold a High School Diploma or GED, are registered with the Ontario College of Trades, and hold Level 1 or higher apprentice status. A valid Ontario driver's license and ~2 years in a dealership environment are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ontario College of Trades registration required.
  • Level 1 or higher Apprentice Body Shop Technician.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License with good driving record.
  • Minimum 2 years in an automotive dealership.

Responsibilities

  • Assist removing damaged body parts (bumpers, fenders, hoods, grilles, trim).
  • Assist realigning car frames and chassis to repair structural damage.
  • Hammer out or patch dents, dimples, and minor body damage.
  • Obtain parts prices and check availability for recommendations.
  • Perform work per repair order and company standards, with efficiency and accuracy.

Grimsby Hyundai is seeking an experienced Body Shop Apprentice to join their exceptional team.

Here’s what you’ll deliver:


  • Assist removing damaged body parts, including bumpers, fenders, hoods, grilles, and trim.

  • Assist with realigning car frames and chassis to repair structural damage.

  • Hammer out or patch dents, dimples, and other minor body damage

  • Obtain parts prices and note availability for each recommendation.

  • Perform all work as outlined on the front of the repair order and as authorized on the back, with efficiency and accuracy, and in accordance with company and factory standards.

  • Order all parts when authorization is received, unless specifically told otherwise.

  • Ensure that all work performed is thorough, accurate, and completed in a timely fashion.

  • Utilize the repair order punch clock appropriately (i.e. punch onto specific line when starting task, and punch off when task is complete).

  • Relocate vehicles around the facility in order to complete the repair process.

  • Learn and retain information on all current and emerging technologies as they apply to automobile servicing.

  • Maintain a high degree of concentration to prevent “comebacks”.

  • Ensure that customer cars are kept as clean or cleaner than when they arrived, both inside and out.

  • Assist with road-tests on vehicles after service any time a wheel is removed, or any time a repair that might affect drivability is performed.

  • Keep abreast of all factory technical bulletins.

  • Assist with completing all required paperwork.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times. This includes cleaning of the bay and bench at the end of each shift and dispose of garbage, recycling, etc. as required.

  • Understand and follow federal, provincial, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.

  • Abide by all company policies and safe operating procedures.

  • Other duties as required by management.


What you need to succeed:


  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Currently registered with Ontario College of Trades.

  • Level 1 or higher Apprentice Body Shop Technician.

  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License and good driving record.

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in an automotive dealership.

  • Work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.

  • Works well in a fast paced environment.

  • Must be team oriented, reliable and hardworking with a positive attitude.

  • Mechanical aptitude and interest.

  • Ability to effectively manage time.

  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and succeed.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and work around a changing schedule.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (50-75 lbs)

Job Type:

Full Time - Permanent


Compensation (expected hourly wage):

$23.00 - $27.00 per hour. The starting rate will be set within this range based on job-related factors such as relevant skills and experience.
