Qualifications

• A post‑secondary degree (B.Ed. preferred) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Experience in sport, visual or performing arts, or camp leadership is considered an asset.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• First Aid certification (or willingness to get certified prior to starting).
• Lifeguard certification is an asset.
• Strong organizational ability and administrative skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and respond quickly to unexpected challenges.

Salary: $25,000 (paid over 10.5 months), plus shared accommodation and meals, treated as a taxable benefit.

Position Overview

St. George’s School is seeking an energetic and dedicated professional for the position of Boarding Associate. Working collaboratively with a positive and dynamic Boarding and Faculty Team, the role is primarily responsible for creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment for our boarding students in Grade 8 to 12. The successful candidate will convey the School’s philosophy of holistic education and pastoral care, acting as a positive role model and mentor within our vibrant campus community.

The successful candidate is an aspiring educator or youth development professional who is eager to gain hands‑on experience in a boarding school environment. This role is ideal for recent B.Ed. graduates looking to launch their teaching careers, or individuals seeking a purposeful, immersive experience to discover their professional passions. The individual is a relationship builder who will work to support the personal, academic, and social growth of students both within the residential houses and across campus programs.

As a collaborative member of the school community, this person will seamlessly balance responsibilities across boarding, academics, and co‑curricular activities.

This role follows an academic schedule (approx. 33 weeks) with rotational duties, allowing you to gain deeply immersive experience in education. The rotating schedule includes:

• One midweek shift (Monday to Thursday) per week, 5pm to 10.30pm.
• One rotating weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) to be shared between other boarding associates, approximately once every three weeks (frequency subject to change).
• Three terms of co‑curricular/sport coaching, primarily after school (3:30pm - 4:45pm) up to three times per week.
• Supervision for various one‑off events and trips throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Life & Boarding House Support

• Community Living: Lives on campus to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and welcoming home‑away‑from‑home environment for students.
• Daily Routines: Assists with essential daily operations and structural routines, including student morning wake‑ups, evening bedtimes, and scheduled check‑ins.
• Supervision: Participates in a rotational duty schedule to provide consistent supervision, mentorship, and support during evenings and weekends.
• Other duties as assigned.

Academic Support & Classroom Engagement

• Classroom Assistance: Works directly with teaching faculty to provide instructional support, academic tutoring, and practical co‑teaching assistance.
• Student Mentorship: Helps students navigate their academic workloads, offering guidance and study strategies during evening prep hours or designated learning blocks.

Co‑Curriculars & Campus Operations

• Athletics & Arts: Actively supports and leads components of the School's athletic or arts programs up to three afternoons per week, fostering teamwork and creative expression.
• Trip Chaperoning: Organizes logistics and acts as a primary chaperone for weekend student trips, excursions, and off‑campus recreational travel.
• Event Supervision: Supervises on‑campus activities, weekend events, and student life initiatives to ensure safe and smooth campus‑wide operations.
