Job summary

The Women’s Health Clinic in Winnipeg is seeking a Medical Assistant/Birth Centre Assistant to provide program and client service support within the Abortion Program. This in-person role supports reception, intake, EMR data entry, and clinical assistance under the supervision of the Team Leader.

Hours include days, evenings, weekends with on-call shifts; casual FTE with 8 or 10 hour shifts. Requirements include high school completion and bilingual ability for designated bilingual positions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bilingual abilities in English and French may be required for bilingual positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming and inclusive reception and registration services to clients and visitors of WHC.
• Maintain WHC security systems and respond to disturbances or crises in reception; alert practitioners or management as needed.
• Provide health information and make referrals to other services as required.
• Enter client information into the EMR (EChart) in collaboration with clinicians.
• Provide clinical support to practitioners by completing tasks and managing documents in EMR.
• Create and manage practitioner appointment templates and schedule appointments.
• Support access to WRHA Language Access Program.
• Prepare and clean clinical areas and rooms before/after client groups.
• Maintain clinical equipment and follow infection control guidelines.
• Process laboratory specimens and pregnancy tests as delegated.
• Handle and dispose of blood and medical waste per safety guidelines.
• Escort clients to service areas and orient to site.
• Collect and input statistical data for program planning and evaluation.
• Assist with orientation/training of staff and students.
• Handle cash and receipts.
• Provide on-call clinical services support during evenings, weekends, and overnight if required.
