Job summary

University of Waterloo is seeking a Biomedical Engineering Lab Technician and Safety Coordinator to support tissues and cells research labs in Systems Design Engineering. The role reports to the Lab Director and oversees wet-lab operations, safety procedures, and space management.

A undergraduate degree in engineering or science is required; biomedical engineering specialization is preferred. WHMIS training and First-Aid are assets; strong documentation and collaboration with students and staff

Qualifications

• Must have undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science with relevant lab experience.
• WHMIS training and First-Aid certification are assets.
• Experience in wet-lab environments and safety-focused operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe operations of wet labs, including SOPs and equipment setup.
• Coordinate safety programs, inspections and reporting in the department.
• Assist with documentation, space management and day-to-day lab operations.
